Message from Doc Lozmak During the late 1970's to early 1980's I was a teenager in Western North Carolina. Our area was lacking in really quality hard rock music. Approximately 75 miles away was WQUT radio, in Johnson City, Tennessee. All of us anxiously awaited the weekends. Because, at midnight on the weekends was the wildest, most crazy DJ that we had ever heard. "The Tennessee Midnight Rambler". He brought all of us the hard brand of rock that we craved. We would listen every weekend all night long. And some of us have not forgotten the Rambler after all of these years. I would like to locate photos, etc. to add to the website. If you had any old autographs, personal photos with the Rambler, etc., please contact me via email. And we'll put it on the website. I will never forget the experience of hearing the Rambler for the very first time. As I recall, all us teens were in the street playing ball or something of the sort. And two brothers, Mike and Darren told me that I needed to listen to this "Wildman" on the radio. We all listened to WQUT, since it was a strong signal to Western North Carolina, but I had never heard the Rambler before. So, that night, I patiently awaited the arrival of the Ramblers broadcast. No sooner than he had hit the airwaves, I nearly fell off the bed in laughter. This was the coolest radio personality I had ever heard in my life. I never had the opportunity to see the Rambler in person during that time, but at the age of 16 or 17 the Rambler made an impression that has lasted on me 25+ years later. Let's bring back the memories for all of us old fogies, and for the new kids on the block, lets show them what real rock & roll is all about. Throughout the years I have talked to many listeners of WQUT from that era. And believe me, he still has fans out there. Lots of them..... The memories of "The Tennessee Midnight Rambler" are very dear to many of us. I am hearing that fact from many people that have contacted me from all over the United States. And while the years have passed, our fond memories have not.
The Midnight Rambler & Doc Lozmak I must graciously thank the numerous individuals that submitted audio CD's, mp3's and tapes and other items that were posted to this site in the early days. Without you, this site would have stopped with only a few audio files. With YOUR help, this site grew and matured into what caught the attention of the Ol' Ramblin' Man himself. I recently located those 2 childhood neighbors, Darren & Mike. They are actually still holding on to their old tapes from those days. It is unbelievable that 25 years later, we are still holding on to what is left of our memories the Wildman from East Tennessee. The old site was visited by over 200 unique visitors (not reloads) in 40 day period after we went online. The popularity of the tribute site allowed the Rambler to see what what we had done. So I was contacted by him, and needless to say, it has now become the Official Rambler Website. Thanks to everyone, the best is yet to come. Enjoy, and LONG LIVE IT! - Doc Lozmak |
